Tornado Rips Through Downtown Atlanta

Bloomberg: Atlanta was under a tornado warning this afternoon, after a twister damaged the Georgia Dome stadium yesterday and shattered windows at Time Warner Inc.'s CNN Center.  The tornado caused injuries to at least 30 people yesterday. The twister was 200 feet wide, and its track was 6 miles long, the mayor said. Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue declared a state of emergency for the area of Atlanta hit by the storm, which permits state funding for response and recovery.

The City of Atlanta has storm updates: A 135-mile-per-hour, F-2 tornado swept through Atlanta with little warning at approximately 9:45 pm last night, cutting a swath of destruction six miles long and 200 yards wide, according to the National Weather Service.
